Tutoring & Coaching
Executive Function Tutoring
Key struggles for Neurodivergent students are often the “soft skills” rather than the content. I support students as they develop their cognitive skills around time management, task initiation, flexibility, perseverance, and other executive functioning skills. See my approach here.
General Tutoring
I provide general academic tutoring for middle school students (all subjects) and for high school students, specializing in the following subject areas: English/Humanities, US History, Qualitative Research, and Spanish.
Family Coaching
I support families with understanding their child’s neurodivergence and disabilities, what needs and tools will best help a child thrive, and how to access instructional support.
I also support families in feeling confident and able to discuss their child’s neurodivergence and disability with their child and family in a way that builds positive identity formation, pride, and community.
Disability Identity Coaching
I tailor my classroom Disability Justice curriculum to support your child’s interests, strengths, and Neurodivergent or Disabled identity. Children will learn about disability history and culture and foster pride in their identities and capabilities.
It all starts with getting to know your child.
-
Building relationships is crucial for successful tutoring.
I conduct separate sessions with parents and the child to determine the family's goals as well as student strengths and interests.
-
I use research-based tools and questionnaires to conduct a discovery of your child's learning styles, strengths, executive functioning skills, and areas for growth.
-
I create customized learning plans that highlight your child's strengths in order to develop the skills in which your child struggles.
These plans evolve as your child's skills inevitably grow.
-
I provide weekly updates to families about student progress, and communicate with teachers in order to provide holistic support and help your child thrive.
Rebecca, Parent & Educator
“Alicia has been a tremendous support for me as I navigate my child's neurodivergence and autism. Through her coaching, I have learned to embrace fully my child's neurodivergence and learn about disability history and identity. Alicia has inspired me to become a stronger, confident, and more educated parent advocate for my son."
